Key Performance Indicator

A key performance indicator (KPI) is a metric chosen as a benchmark of organizational success and health. Organizations select the indicators most crucial to fulfilling their goals and objectives as KPIs.

Organizations will select different types of KPIs depending upon the industry and desired outcomes. For example, a business might establish customer renewal rates as a primary KPI, while a school might decide to measure student test scores or teacher retention.
