Distributed Processing

Distributed processing occurs when a variety of computers in a network divide the task of running a program(s). In distributed processing, separate parts of the same application are run by different computers in different geographical locations through the use of local area networks (LANs), often with the ability to identify temporarily unused computers to employ for processing.
