Dictionary Term

A database is a digital-data storage unit in which data is compiled in an orderly manner, in tables and fields. Flat databases are the most basic database design, made up of a single table. Today, most databases are complex, featuring multiple tables and fields that are interconnected. The more ordered the database, the easier for users to conduct rapid searches for information.
