Dictionary Term

Data Validation

Data validation is a process for preventing inaccurate, messy and/or irrelevant data from entering a program. This is accomplished by data validation software that corrects data and sends updates to the user. A failure to thoroughly validate the data that runs a program can result in the corruption of the program and can expose the entire processing unit to security breaches.
