Visual.ly is headquartered in San Francisco, California, USA.
Visual.ly’s product is a platform built into its website that gives users the ability to perform a variety of tasks:
Connect with data and research professionals (data analysts, journalists) to help collect and organize data
Connect with design professionals (designers) to help visualize data in the form of infographics
Access simple templates to create infographics from existing data
Display and distribute original infographics
Search and view data visualizations that cover a wide range of topics, from gaming, sports, entertainment etc.–to business, geography and an array of social issues.
How it works
Users can create their own Visual.ly profile and publish any infographic they create (most frequently using pre-existing templates created by Visual.ly), sharing their work on the Visual.ly website and social networks.
Visual.ly also provides tools that allow anyone to build infographics by searching through public databases by topic and plugging gathered data into existing templates. For example, Visual.ly’s Twitter Visualizer lets users input two different Twitter handles to create an infographic that gives side-by-side comparisons of data in users’ profiles (hobbies, followers, etc.)
For users interested in creating completely original infographics, Visual.ly maintains a stable of available journalists, data analysts and designers to conduct research, gather unculled data and help craft original visualizations.
