SCaVis ( Scientific Computation and Visualization Environment) is an open-source digital framework built to analyze and visualize data for scientists and engineers. In order to serve users with a wide variety of needs across a wide variety of disciplines, SCaVis uses Java, as well as BeanShell, Groovy, JRuby, Jython and GNU Octave mode for symbolic calculations. Because of this, SCaVis can run in most third-party platforms.

SCaVis was originally built for use in the field of high-energy physics, and was called jHepWork. As a result of popularity outside the realm of physics, the name was changed to SCaVis.
