IBM Introduces Vertical-Specific Cloud Analytics
IBM hasn’t had the best of weeks, but in case anyone thought the only news from Big Blue was about alleged layoffs at the company, here’s an interesting story that is far more positive. The company is today announcing a new cloud-based analytics platform that is targeted to the energy and utility sectors. The idea being to help these companies improve their decision-making – both in terms of timeliness and efficacy.
These companies have always had to make decisions on the fly as supply and demand varies form minute to minute, but increasingly they need to do so to answer the commercial demands and competitive pressures they face. Analytics can help them with this as it enables them to analyze all the aspects of their operation – from the level of individual transformers through to the macro level of the entire grid.
