Dictionary Term

Unstructured Data

AKA:

Unstructured data is any data in any location that is not placed in a structured field. The great majority of data that organizations produce begins as unstructured data, in formats like emails, PDFs, word documents, etc. Data in these formats appears most often as running text, and is therefore difficult to search and analyze in ways that make useful meaning of the information it contains.
