Dictionary Term

First In, First Out

AKA:

First in, first out (FIFO) is a common task management configuration for dealing with transaction requests in computing. With FIFO, requests are placed into chronologically arranged stacks that queue up tasks to be and processed in the order in which they were received—on a first come first serve basis, so to speak, with the oldest request processed first, and the most recent request processed last.

FIFO is the opposite of last in, first out (LIFO), another common task management configuration.
