Data Source Name

AKA:

A data source name (DSN) is a construct that contains the descriptions of a data source, and makes it possible to connect to that data source. Most DSNs provide connectivity for Open Database Connectivity drivers, though DSNs can also provide connectivity for other apparatus, such as Java Database Connectivity (JDBC). DNSs are also by used by Active Server Pages (ASP) for accessing data.
