Dictionary Term

Data Modeling

AKA:

Data modeling is the act of building an outline for a database. Data models are visual representations—or blueprints—of the way data is processed, from beginning to end, through an information system.

There are a few types of data models: conceptual data models, logical data models, and physical data models. Typically, conceptual and logical data models are created as stepping stones in a sequence to produce the final, physical data model.
