Competitive Intelligence

AKA:

Competitive intelligence is a business practice of assembling and analyzing information about a particular market—from the market conditions, to customers and competitors. Businesses undertake competitive intelligence activities to better handle risk and opportunity, and better respond to competitors.

When gathering competitive intelligence, it is important to remain within the bounds of acceptable legal practice, and not to engage in corporate or industrial espionage, which are punishable by law.
