For years industry analysts have opined that the success or failure of a CRM, data warehouse, and ERP implementation hinges in large part on the quality of an organization’s information. And yet many organizations turned a blind eye to their data problems. Turns out that approach is costing — literally.
Last year independent analyst firm Ovum found that poor quality data is costing U.S. businesses around $700 billion a year or 30 percent of the average company’s revenue. The associated costs of bad data and the overall growth of data driven by Big Data are fueling renewed demand for data quality solutions. The good news is that many of the problems associated with poor data quality are avoidable, preventable and correctable.
